THESE ARE ALL COLLAGED IMAGES CREATED DIGITALLY IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP.

They are created digitally through scans of actual objects on a flatbed scanner, collaged together on a computer, and printed as GICLEE'S at high quality and resolution on superb CANVAS material, stretched on stretcher bars, and ready to hang. Watercolor Giclee prints are also available.

A Giclee is an ART QUALITY PRINT. It is an exceptionally high quality ink jet print made on a high end professional printer as opposed to prints made on ordinary home desktop printers. Materials and inks used are of superb quality and intended to achieve both stunning appearance and excellent display life.

Creative Process for mixed object collages.

I begin by gathering objects. Sometimes they are from my closet or tools from my wood shop. And at times I go out to nearby yard sales and buy boxes of miscellaneous "stuff". Back in the studio I lay these out on tables and randomely select objects for scanning. At other times I scan things as inspiration hits during the collage process on the computer.

Each image can contain a variety of unexpected objects such as paint brushes, plumbing parts, small dolls, a stuffed animal, plastic fishing lures, cloth yarn, wood shop tools, and many other unusual items. The intent is to create a strange juxtaposition between objects to keep the viewer interested and thinking about their meanings.

Any object can be scanned and used in a collage in juxtaposition to other provocative objects. Hands and body parts are exciting collage objects in that they suggest human participation in the creation of a staged scene. They also are just interesting volumetric objects with rich and exciting visual details.

Artist Intentions.

These images are about the world of objects that we live in and the unexpected encounter of things that exist in the same space but seem to have no explainable relationship. The world is so full of a rich abundance of "things" that we often forgo considering their meaning in favor of spending time organizing their arrangement.

Creative Process for geometric collages.

The Z-Brush program is unusual in that it is possible to create spheres, cylinders, pyramids and other basic geometric volumes of various sizes and configurations. Then it is possible to paint textures on top of the geometric volumes.

Artist Intentions.

What fascinates me about this way of working is the infinite possibilities for geometric shapes and volumes and the endless number of variations available for textures. They become a fantasies bounded only by the imagination of the creator of these images. This is not real space but these images are still about space and collections of pure geometric volumes.

Display.
I prefer to make very large Giclee prints on canvas because I believe that in this way they gain more of a physical presence. I also am able to achieve more vivid coloration which is important to me.

Also because the canvas prints are stretched on wood stretcher bars the image surface projects out 1&1/2 inches from the wall plane. The pixels at the edges of the image are stretched and wrap around the edges. Prints come with wire on the back and are ready to hang. See the example below.
